When it comes to violence, suicide and threats, most incidents are known about by at least one other individual before they happen. National Say Something Week, Oct. 16-20, reinforces the power young people have to prevent tragedies by saying something to a trusted adult. It raises awareness and educates students and their community through training, media events, advertising, public proclamations, contests and school awards. Say Something Week was created by Sandy Hook Promise, a national non-profit organization founded by family members of some of the students killed at Sandy Hook Elementary School.
