Darren Bentley, Andover Central High School physics and biology teacher, is being honored for his exemplary work in teaching at the community college level. When not teaching high school students at ACHS, Mr. Bentley is busy teaching biology to students age 18-60+ at Butler Community College. He is one of two BCC teachers to receive the prestigious John & Suanne Roueche Excellence Award. He will accept his award at the Innovations Conference in March in National Harbor, Md.

Mr. Bentley has served as an adjunct science instructor at Butler for more than a dozen years. He realized at an early age that teaching was his passion. From middle school on, he was always there to lend a helping hand when a friend needed help with algebra or trigonometry. After graduating from Wichita Southeast High School, Bentley attended Butler Community College and then Newman University.

“I just go do what I do, and I guess I’m doing something right,” Bentley said about winning the award.

Congratulations Mr. Bentley!
