|Update: Andover Road Lane Closure|
Posted Date: 09/09/2016
On Sept. 12, Butler County will begin working on South Andover Road/Butler Road at SW 120 and extend several miles south. This project will take several days. Traffic will be reduced to one lane from about 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. each day. They will be using a pilot car and flagman operation to keep traffic open, but delays should be expected.
Westar Energy is conducting major work along Andover Road to bury all the overhead utility lines. Eventually, all the overhead lines will go away and new light poles will be installed on Andover Road from 13th Street to Kellogg. This is a positive move for the City of Andover, however, it does mean that there will be traffic issues.
Andover Road will be reduced permanently to two lanes (one lane each way) from Central to Kellogg for at least a month. With this reduction, southbound traffic on Andover Road will not be allowed to turn left on Douglas Street toward Sunflower Elementary. During this time, there can be long delays for anyone trying to travel Andover Road in either direction between Central and Kellogg. It's important to note that the longest delays are between 3-4 p.m.
Buses may be delayed as a result of this construction, but know that we are working to redirect buses to minimize delays as much as we can.
We ask, if possible, for you to avoid Andover Rd. and Douglas St. during high traffic hours (before & after school). We appreciate your cooperation as we work to minimize delays in bus routes.
