WHAT IS AMSPO?

What does AMSPO stand for?

Andover Middle School Parent Organization

Why do we need AMSPO?

The purpose of the Andover Middle School Parent Organization (AMSPO) is to promote and recognize all students and their achievements at the Andover Middle School (AMS).

What does AMSPO do?

There is a long list of things we do throughout the year to make our students feel important and to support the teachers/staff in ways that will benefit everyone at Andover Middle School.

September	� Help administration coordinate and supply volunteers for the fundraiser.
	� Make and distribute photo buttons of students in fall sports/activities to parents.
	� Decorate student lockers for fall sports/activities.
	� Coordinate orders, sales and distribution of T-shirts and sweatshirts.
October	� Provide a meal for the teachers/staff during Parent/Teacher/Student Conference.
November	� Provide treats for the teachers/staff in recognition of American Education Week.
December	� Provide cookies to the students at the Student Holiday Reception.
January	� Decorate student lockers for winter sports/activities.
	� Make and distribute photo buttons of students in winter sports/activities to parents.
February	� Provide dictionary/thesaurus to Spelling Bee participants.
March	� Provide treats to the students for the various assessment testing.
	� Provide a meal for the teachers/staff during Parent/Teacher/Student Conference.
April	� Provide treats and surprises to the students for Student Appreciation Week.
May	� Provide a meal/treats for the teachers/staff in recognition of Teacher Appreciation Week. � Provide information about AMSPO to incoming 6th grade parents at the 5th Grade Orientation.
Monthly	� Provide treats for the students and teachers/staff on their birthday.

Every 9 wks � Provide treats to the students at report card time.

Twice a Year � Provide treats and help staff with games and other activities for the students at
the end of the semester Conduct Card Party.
� Provide volunteers for the Book Fair.

When there is a need, we try to provide the funds through AMSPO.
Past purchases � microwaves for the students to use at lunch time, A.R. books/tests and dictionaries for the Library, latex gloves for dissecting projects, and various teaching items for the teachers.
