Andover BOE schedules bond
issue election
Andover, Kan. — June 20, 2005
The Andover Public Schools Board of Education approved a resolution
at the June 13 meeting to
submit a bond issue proposal to district voters on Sept. 27. The
bond issue proposal will be for
$39.68 million in general obligation bonds to fund new construction
and improvements to
existing school facilities.
If approved, the bond issue would provide the funding for three new
elementary schools,
acquisition of sites for the new facilities, improvements to
Andover High School, improvements
to Robert M. Martin and Meadowlark Elementary Schools, improvements
at Cottonwood
Elementary School, improvements to both the District Stadium and
Andover Central Campus
Athletic Field, and improvements district-wide for enhanced
security.
The Andover school district is the second fastest growing district
in Kansas. During the
2004-05 school year, approximately 300 new students enrolled in
Andover Public Schools.
Total enrollment in 04-05 was at 3,744 students, and anticipated
enrollment for this fall is
approximately 4,000.
