-Projects and Test

Grading
Projects and Test will be worth 60 %. Daily assignments and writing assignments will be worth 40%. The final grade will be calculated and a letter grade will be applied using the schools grading scale (see students agenda for grading scale). I will move students who are a percent or half a percent close to a higher grade up to the higher grade if they have no missing assignments.
You can view your students’ grades on powerschool. The website can be accessed by going to the district website, www.usd385.org. The powerschool icon is found on the right side of the page under the clock. In order to access this site you will need your personal username and password given to you by the school. If you have questions you can talk to me or call the office.

Materials you need to bring every day are:
1. Science Book
2. Pencil or pen
3. Lab journal
4. Agenda book
5. Paper
6. Science Folder
7. Assignment for that day ( when applicable)

Homework:
At the beginning of each class, students will be asked to copy the homework assignment into their agendas. If you are absent or if you have any questions about the homework, you can view one week of assignments on the website www.schoolnotes.com. Click on Mrs. Friend and it will bring up the current agenda for 6th grade science. Homework is due at the beginning of class.

Late Work/Missing Assignments:
In the 1st nine weeks, students will receive 2 late passes. In the 2nd nine weeks, the student will receive 2 more late passes. However, in the 3rd nine weeks, students will only receive one late pass. No late passes will be given in the 4th nine weeks. The filled out pass and assignment need to be stapled together and turned in 24 hours of the due date to receive credit. If you are absent from school for a school-related activity you are responsible for finding out what the assignment is and having it completed by the appropriate time. Writing assignments or projects can be turned in for full credit with a pass in the 24 hour allotted time. However, if the writing assignment or project is not turned in after the 2nd day parents will be called. By the 3rd day it will only be worth 50%. The 4th day it will be a zero.
Also, if a student has NO missing assignments during a chapter study they will earn a 5% bonus to their chapter test. (Meaning that if you earn a 95% and have no missing assignments you will have a 100% on your test) If you use a pass during this a test period the 5% bonus will not be added.
If you are absent from school for a school-related activity you are responsible for finding out what the assignment is and having it completed by the appropriate time School policy states that students have two day for every day they were gone to make-up assignments. If you are going on vacation and know when you will be absent ahead of time you need to contact the office first. They will provide you with a slip of paper that you will need to take to your teachers. All work must be done before you leave. If the vacation occurs before prior knowledge is known, you will have one day for everyday that you are absent to make up your work. You need to follow the school policy when you have a planned absence. You can find this information at the front of you agenda.

Classroom Rules:
1. Do not allow your behavior to disrupt the learning of others.
2. Follow all directions and lab procedures.
3. Come to class prepared.
4. Wait to hear all of the directions before asking questions.
5. Be respectful and courteous to others.
