Andover teachers Lee and Tucker win Kansas Horizon Awards
January 26, 2006
The Andover school district is fortunate to have two 2006 Horizon Award recipients- Andover High School teacher Sarah Tucker and Meadowlark Elementary School teacher Scott Lee.
It is truly an honor for a district to have even one recipient, and our district is very excited to have two honorees. Tucker and Lee are worthy recipients of these awards, extremely knowledgeable in their subject areas, and have received praise from coworkers, parents and students alike.
According to coworkers, Lee is always looking for an edge to help close the achievement gap between students with higher abilities and those with lower abilities. He consistently finds ways to implement technology into lessons, inject fun and enthusiasm into each topic and build rapport with students.
Tucker's patience and dedication have also impressed students and coworkers She has created a learning environment that welcomes parental involvement and support, and according to coworkers, has instinctive teaching skills, abundant energy, high expectations and enthusiasm to spare.
Both of these teachers will be guests at the KEEN Conference in Topeka in February, where they will receive their award. Congratulations to Sarah Tucker and Scott Lee!
