Secondary Summit Committee Norms
- Decisions will be made that are in the best interests of students and learning.
- The needs of the entire school district take precedence over the needs of individual schools or buildings. The group will remain focused on the organization as a whole rather than its individual parts.
- Decisions are reached by a kind of consensus in which it is clear that everybody is in general agreement and willing to go along.
- We will start on time and stop on time.
- Agree to disagree. Agree or disagree with ideas, not people. Disagreement is normal and the group is comfortable with this as long as it doesn't get personal or individuals do not try to dominate the group or express hostility.,
- We will actively listen to one another. Every idea is given a fair hearing and people are comfortable expressing their ideas without fear of ridicule.
- Criticism is frequent, frank and relatively comfortable. There is little evidence of personal attack either openly or in a hidden fashion. Criticism is constructive and oriented toward removing obstacles and getting the job done.
