Being a parent is the most important, exciting and difficult job you may ever have. So, from the beginning, Parents As Teachers is here to assist you.
Parents are their child�s first teachers. The way a child grows and learns during the early years of life -- beginning even before birth -- can have an enormous impact on later development and success in school. The goal of the Parents As Teachers program is to help parents be better teachers for their children during this critical time by helping them understand how children grow and learn. Certified parent educators work with parents to help each child get the best possible start in life.
Parents As Teachers is a free, voluntary program provided by the Kansas State Department of Education and the Andover school district to families, regardless of income, who have a child or children under the age of 36 months. Parents As Teachers provides personal home visits, group meetings, developmental screenings and much more.
