Andover schools receive record number of Standards of Excellence
October 17, 2007
Andover Public Schools earned 46 Standards of Excellence from the Kansas State Department of Education (KSDE) based on the 2007 state assessments given last spring.
The Standard of Excellence award is the highest recognition awarded
by KSDE to Kansas schools.
To receive a Standard of Excellence award, a certain percentage of
students tested during state assessment tests in the spring must
earn exemplary scores, and only a small number of students can
receive unsatisfactory scores on the test. Awards are given
for both grade-level and building-wide performance.
This is the highest number Andover Public Schools has received
in one year, and 77 percent of all assessments given in the
district resulted in Standard of Excellence recognition. Each
of the eight schools in the district received multiple Standards of
Excellence.
“Andover has a history of excellence in education, and yet each
year our exceptional students and dedicated staff continue to
improve on this foundation of excellence. Congratulations to
all our students and staff on these great accomplishments,” said
Superintendent of Schools Mark A. Evans.
“The strength of our district is the excellence of our students and
teachers in each and every building,” said Dr. Andy Koenigs,
Associate Superintendent for Academic Affairs.
“Each of Andover’s eight schools earned multiple Standards of
Excellence.”
