All-Day Kindergarten Program to begin in fall
Half Day Program still in place at all elementary schools

The Andover school district is taking applications for the All-Day Kindergarten Program to be held at Wheatland Elementary School for the 2008-009 school year. This is a free program for children throughout the district who will be 5 years old as of August 31, 2008 and who meet one or more of the following criteria:
1) child lives in a single parent household
2) one of the child’s parents was a teenager at the time of the child’s birth
3) parent(s) do not hold a high school diploma or GED
4) there is limited English proficiency in the home
5) the child’s family qualifies for the free or reduced Federal lunch program
6) the child has a developmental delay - as documented through assessments
7) child qualifies for migrant status
8) SRS referral as documented and signed by an SRS agent
Enrollment is limited and student selection for the program is based upon need. Transportation is provided throughout the district for those who are enrolled in the program.

Applications are also available at the District Office (1432 Andover Road). Click here to see an application that can be printed and filled out. Applications must be completed and submitted by April 4, because the initial placement process will begin April 9. Preliminary placements will be made during the spring of 2008.
