FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

Q:  What can I do to help my student study for tests?

A:  All students take a practice test two days prior to the actual chapter test.  We then grade the practice test in class so the student should get an idea about how much and in what areas they need to study to prepare for the chapter test.  All students will be allowed to take the practice test home as a study guide.  Students will also have the opportunity to ask questions about any item on the practice test.

Q: How do I know if my student has a homework assignment or an upcoming test or quiz?

A:  All assignments, quizzes, and tests are listed each week on www.schoolnotes.com.  Enter the zip code 67002, then click on Mrs. Ryan.  Students should also be able to tell you this information!

Q:  How is my child's math grade computed?

A:  Homework makes up 25% of the total math grade.   Tests and quizzes are 70% of the total grade.  A Math Journal is 5% of the grade.  The math journal consists of class warm-ups and notes.  These will be checked each test day.

Q: How long should my student be spending on their math homework?

A:  Depending on how well the student knows their math facts (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division) Math 6 students should spend 5-25 minutes on math homework each night.  If you notice your child is spending a great deal of time more than this, please contact me so we can discuss solution strategies.
