5th grade Band Update

5th grade band is off and rolling right along.  We are excited about the future of these young musicians.  The Central Schools started 155 beginners (Meadowlark and Sunflower).  Remember that it does take a while to make those sounds pleasant  Give them time and they will be awesome.

Here are a few things that you can do to encourage your young musician's progress:

1.  Dedicated practice time

2.  Folding music stand

3.  At least three good reeds at all times for clarinets and saxes

4.  Listen and encourage

5.  Cleaning supplies

6.  Necessary oils-valve oil for trumpets and baritones, rotor oil for french horns and slide oil for trombones.

7.  Encourage your young musician to use the smartmusic program.  There is a link below for more information regarding smartmusic.

8.  Help your child remember that band is Monday-Thursday each week and that they need to remember to bring their instrument those days.

Let us know if there is anything you need.  We are enjoying being a part of this new musical adventure for your 5th grader.  We are always here to help.
