7th Grade Science with Ms. Hill
By Leah Hill
August 13, 2008
WELCOME! Hello, parent(s)/guardian(s) and
7th grade student. My name is Ms. Leah Hill and I am the
7th grade science teacher. This is my 6th
year as a teacher (4th year at AMS) and I am very
excited about what will be going on in our classroom for the next
year. I anticipate that everyday will be a fun learning experience
in science class. Most days there will be reading from the book,
but I also believe in doing labs and hands-on activities that
correspond with our lessons. So, hopefully when you ask your
student how their day was, they can at least tell you about what
they did in science. There will be some homework, but I will
usually try to provide class time to at least start assignments.
Topics that we will cover this year include cells and heredity, and
basic physics (forces, motion and energy). All assignments will be
posted weekly on www.schoolnotes.com. I would like
to keep in contact with you personally by e-mail at hilll@usd385.org or by phone at
733-5061. If you have any questions about your student's progress,
please do not hesitate to contact me. I will be pleased to her from
you. I look forward to being your student's teacher and I know we
will have a great year!
ALITTLE BIT ABOUT
MYSELF
I
graduated from Wichita State University with my degree in
Elementary Education and an Endorsement to teach middle school
science. For most of my life I have lived on a small farm just
southwest of Valley Center. I grew up riding horses and spending a
lot of time outdoors with my family. Even though I don't have
children, I still lead a very busy life. I love to spend time
outdoors, either fishing, hunting or with the horses. So, I have
always been surrounded by science. Hopefully I can share my passion
for the subject with your student and they will love science just
as much as I do!
