2011-2012 Goals

 

The Andover Public Schools Board of Education will continue efforts to engage the community with a focus on the district mission, vision and values, by partnering with local groups; and will continue to advocate for public education.  In addition, the Board has set the following goals in the district’s four strategic areas.

 

Student Achievement

  1. Meet district approved student achievement goals.
  2. Research school schedules to maximize student achievement, programs and staff, as well as increase PD and PLC time.
  3. Prepare for common core standards and the implications for our district.
  4. Increase communication and collaboration between the schools regarding MTSS, and increase the utilization of MTSS strategies.
  5. Review and evaluate AP course offerings and weighted grades.

 

Technology

  1. Establish a committee to study and recommend how best to increase technology support – for maintenance, repairs, replacement and new equipment, adequate staff, and instructional technology (training and support).
  2. Evaluate the implementation of online enrollment.
  3. Complete installation of VBlock server system.

 

Safety & Security

  1. Implement and evaluate video surveillance system.
  2. Evaluate new cell phone and social media policies.
  3. Training on and evaluation of updated crisis plan.
  4. Establish a committee to find plans for substance abuse prevention that will make a difference and engage the community.
  5. Review current student and employee wellness options.

 

Fiscal Responsibility

  1. Review building support staff job responsibilities to identify appropriate staffing levels.
  2. Establish a committee to evaluate long term growth, facility use needs, and school attendance center boundaries.
  3. Review 2010 Census information to establish new Board of Education district boundaries.
  4. Develop business, corporate and community partnerships to seek volunteers, sponsorships, grants, and assistance – both financial and otherwise – with specific programs.
  5. Complete performance contracting and evaluate energy efficiency and fuel energy savings options.
  6. Successfully implement and integrate new business software.
  7. Review and evaluate alternative compensation options with existing committee.
