Superintendent works closely with Student Advisory Team
New: Watch the students in a Wichita City Channel 7 PSA!
Superintendent of Schools Mark A. Evans actively seeks input from students attending Andover Public Schools through the Superintendent’s Student Advisory Team. The team includes 15 students from both Andover High School and Andover Central High School. They assist in communicating between the district and students, sharing students’ views and concerns on a variety of matters of educational importance.
The team meets monthly from September through May. During the
November meeting, students traveled to Wichita State University,
where they received a personal tour of the Charles Koch arena from
head basketball coach Gregg Marshall and staff. In December, they
visited Wichita City Hall, where they met with Mayor Carl Brewer
and City Councilman Jeff Longwell to learn about the daily
operations of the City of Wichita. Each February the group travels
to Topeka to meet with state legislators from the area and discuss
issues that they feel are important.
Members of the Superintendent’s Student Advisory Team include:
Andover High School students Kristen Wike, Bailee Quam, Lindsey
Eck, Andy Scharping, Jacob Ablah, Corbin Mihelic, Tyler Franssen,
and Mackenzie Lair; and Andover Central High School students Carmen
Ramirez, Johanna Ramirez, Jens Danielsen, Pat Collins, Erin Maupin,
Ashley Meadows, and Steven Langley.
