School Resource Officer Buck Buchanan

Last year’s SRO David Harper-Head has been assigned to the duties as Master Patrol Officer for night shift patrol. Officer Harper-Head left the SRO position to continue his college educational desires. Officer Harper-Head will be seen during evening activities the schools may have.

Newly appointed SRO Buck Buchanan has been with the Andover Police Department in various positions and has been a certified police officer since 1994. SRO Buchanan is looking forward for this opportunity in the schools and is eager to be a part of the Andover School District.

Coming back for another year is SRO Lance Parker. SRO Parker has been a certified Police Officer since 2004 and has been with Andover since 2006. This will be SRO Parker’s third (3rd) year as SRO assigned to the northern schools of the district.

OUR GOAL
As School Resource Officers our goal is to provide a “safe learning environment” for all Administration, Faculty, Staff and Students. We will assist administration and faculty address school / law related problems through prevention and intervention techniques. We will serve as an informal counselor as well as, an educator for school / law related issues by providing resources and education.

Presentations
Along with our duties as SRO, we are asked to speak and make presentations to students and even parents in various topics. Our topics include safety concerns in schools and home, drugs and alcohol, bullying or harassment issues, or stranger presentations for young children. We also handle tours of the Andover Police Department for class field trips. (Please contact your SRO to schedule any of these presentations)

In conjunction with the Andover Police Department, we look forward to a very safe and successful school year.
