Aunt Jemima Voluntary Food Recall

We've been informed by the Kansas Department of Education of a voluntary recall issued by Pinnacle Foods Inc., the manufacturer of Aunt Jemima frozen breakfast foods including pancakes, waffles and French toast slices. This voluntary recall was initiated after Listeria monocytogenes bacteria were found in their production environment.

According to records filed by Pinnacle Foods with the Food and Drug Administration, to date, no illnesses have been linked to this recall and no product has been found to contain this bacteria.

Please visit for a complete list of recalled products and product codes. Please check this list and compare it to any products you may have in your home freezer. We recommend discarding them immediately as a precaution even though the recall is voluntary.

Our food service program has used one of the recalled products - Aunt Jemima Waffles, code # 43577, in our breakfast and lunch program. Waffles were served on March 9, March 13, March 28, April 11, April 24 and May 4. OPAA! Food Management, Inc., who is the food service contractor for USD 385, ensures all unused cases of this product were immediately identified, recorded, disposed and reported to our distributors and Pinnacle Foods in compliance with the Food and Drug Administration policy on recalls.

Persons and families should be instructed if they or their children develop any symptoms of listeriosis within 70 days of their last exposure to the recalled product that they should seek medical care and notify their healthcare providers of the potential exposure to a food recalled for Listeria contamination.

We appreciate OPPA's quick response to this recall and their consistent support of our food service needs. Any questions can be directed to Bonnie Scarth, Administrative Assistant /Food Service Representative for USD 385 at (316) 218-4603
