Congratulations to Rylie Nance, an eighth-grade yearbook staff member at Andover Middle School, who was named the Mary Patrick Aspiring Young Journalist for 2023 by the Kansas Student Press Association! KSPA surprised Rylie at school with balloons, flowers and a cake.

“Rylie is one of the most talented natural photographers that I have ever taught,” says Haley Winegar, AMS journalism teacher. “She is always willing to go the extra mile, whether that is by attending sporting events or extracurricular activities in order to get the perfect shot for the yearbook, or staying late after school to work on spreads. Rylie is hardworking, kind, and driven to be the best that she can be.”

This is the third straight year an AMS student received the award. Erica High, an eighth-grader at AMS, was named runner-up.
