Dr. Kristen Kuhlmann has accepted an offer to be the principal of Andover High School. Dr. Kuhlmann will replace Mr. Bob Baier who will retire at the end of the 2015-16 school year after leading AHS for 18 years.
Dr. Kuhlmann has been the Executive Director of Secondary Education for the past four years at Emporia USD 253. Prior to leading curriculum and professional learning at the secondary level in Emporia, Dr. Kuhlmann was the principal at Derby Middle School, assistant principal at Maize South Middle School, and the assistant principal and women’s athletic director at Emporia High School.
“I’ve always been impressed with Andover and the philosophy and excellence of the school district,” said Dr. Kuhlmann. “I’m delighted to work with students and staff, meet parents and stakeholders and become a part of the Andover community. This position is a premier job and I am honored to be the next person to lead Andover High.”
Dr. Kuhlmann is a mother of two, Maddox and McKenzie, and grew up in the Shawnee Mission area of Kansas City. She comes to Andover with 13 years of leadership in secondary curriculum and professional learning. She has been integral in the implementation of many district goals and initiatives across mid-western Kansas that have empowered students and educators with leading-edge tools and techniques to improve student achievement in and out of the classroom.
