Dana Matheny has accepted an offer to be the principal of Meadowlark Elementary. Matheny will replace Ms. Jody Baker who will retire at the end of the 2015-16 school year after leading Meadowlark for 16 years.
Matheny has been the Principal of OK Elementary for the past year at Wichita USD 259. Prior to leading OK Elementary, Matheny was the assistant principal at Gardiner Elementary and the assistant principal in charge of K-2 students at Jenks West Elementary in Jenks, Oklahoma.
“Being a member of the Andover community with three of my children attending Andover Schools, this transition to Meadowlark Elementary feels like coming home,” said Matheny. “I’m looking forward to working with students, staff and parents in the community I live in. Andover is a community that I trust and being the next person to lead Meadowlark Elementary is an honor.”
Matheny is married with a daughter and three step-children, which attend Andover Schools. She grew up in Jenks, Oklahoma and comes to Andover with eight years of elementary building leadership experience, two years as an elementary curriculum resource instructor, and seven years as a classroom teacher.
“We are excited for Mrs. Matheny to join our team at Meadowlark Elementary. Her experience and passion for students will be an exceptional addition to the Meadowlark team.” said Greg Rasmussen, Superintendent of Schools. “I’m confident Mrs. Matheny will bring energy and new opportunities to staff and students to continue the success of one of the premier elementary schools in Kansas.”
