Thinking Cap Quiz Bowl results announced

Congratulations to the Thinking Cap Quiz Bowl Teams at Wheatland, Sunflower, Robert Martin, Cottonwood, Meadowlark, and Prairie Creek for their success in the Andover 5th/6th Grade Thinking Cap Quiz Bowl Contest!

A total of 19 fifth-grade teams and 22 6th-grades teams competed in the Great Plains division from Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota and North Dakota. The quiz is a self-scoring, computer contest of 100 multiple-choice questions. Areas covered include math, geography, government, sports, spelling, science, literature, English, history, general information and just plain fun trivia. Team members watch the promethean board while one team member enters the team’s answers into the computer. Points are awarded based on speed and accuracy. Teams get two chances for each question to answer correctly. No adult assistance is allowed. The first and second place teams are awarded individual ribbons and a school trophy in the Great Plains Division.

Wheatland Elementary took first place in the Andover district with 1,122 points and first place in the Regional Contest in the 5th grade division and eighth in the 5th and 6th grade division.  The team will be awarded a trophy for their great accomplishment.  Wheatland Elementary Quiz Bowl Team members included: Abby Tofteland, Isaac Holt, Maggie Jones, Brynn Eilert, Lily Ryan, Clark Young, Blake Swindler, Bela Bouddhara, Allison de la Garza, and Audrey Eastman.

Robert Martin Elementary took second place in the Andover district with 1,100 points and second place in the Regional Contest in the 5th grade division. 

Prairie Creek Elementary took third place in Andover district with 1,027 points and 3rd place in the Regional Contest in the 5th grade division.  

Cottonwood Elementary took fourth place in the Andover district with 1,008 points and fourth place in the Regional Contest in the 5th grade division.

Sunflower Elementary took fifth place in the Andover district with 1,006 points and fifth place in the Regional Contest in the 5th grade division.  

Meadowlark Elementary took sixth place in Andover district with 1,027 points and ninth place in the Regional Contest in the 5th grade division. 

The sponsors for the Thinking Cap Quiz Bowl teams were the Extended Learning Program Teachers, Ms. Olsen for the North end of the district and Mrs. King for the south end of the district.
