Two Andover teachers have been nominated for the Kansas Master Teacher Award, which is given through the Teachers College at Emporia State University.

Carly Bowden, math teacher at Andover Central Middle School, and Hillary Barscewski, first-grade teacher at Cottonwood Elementary School, were recently surprised in their rooms by district administrators who came to share the news.

The honor goes to educators who have “served the profession long and well and who also typify the good qualities of earnest and conscientious teachers.”

Nine Andover educators have been named Kansas Master Teachers since 2000. This year’s recipients will be notified in February 2020.
