|Wheatland, Robert Martin & Cottonwood Elementary Quiz Bowl Teams excel in Thinking Cap Quiz Bowl|

Congratulations to the Quiz Bowl Teams at Wheatland, Robert Martin and Cottonwood Elementarys for placing in the Andover and Great Plains districts at the Thinking Cap Quiz Bowl!
The annual fifth grade Thinking Cap Quiz Bowl for the northern elementary schools in Andover took place Nov. 10. The contest is open to students in Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota and North Dakota and there were a total of twenty-three fifth grade teams competing. The quiz is a self-scoring, computer contest of 100 multiple-choice questions. Areas covered include math, geography, government, sports, spelling, science, literature, English, history, general information and just plain fun trivia. Team members watch the promethean board while one team member enters the team’s answers into the computer. Points are awarded based on speed and accuracy. Teams get two chances for each question to answer correctly. No adult assistance is allowed! First and second place teams are awarded with individual ribbons and a school trophy.
Wheatland Elementary took first place for the second year in a row in the Andover district and first in the Great Plains competition with 1,178 total points. Team members include: Preston Cyrier, Kallisti Mandanis, Jack Philips, Laasya Ravi, Brecken Kasel, Ryan Kice, Jefferson Lee, Sami Labidi, Anna McDavitt, Aurora Tan, Kaia Woolfe, Alyssa Evans, Hannah Pappademos, Giorgiana Smith, Caitlin Reilly, Sharon Sun, Jackson Peck and Ilaina Shepherd.
Robert Martin Elementary took third place in the Andover district and fifth in the Great Plains competition with 1,066 total points. Team members include: Sophie Thiessen, Ayaan Parikh, Raegan Brotsky, Adam Maki, Kamden Longacre, Brodie Beach, Cole Compton, Nicole Winter, Hailey Ericksen, David Wyatt, Gentry Brown, Raegan Colahan, Christon Tran, Drew Torgerson, Chapman Osborne, Vince Wong and Griffin McDonough.
Cottonwood Elementary took fourth place in the Andover district and seventh in the Great Plains competition with 1,047 total points. Team members include: Bradley Hansen, Bethany Horst, Kyler Johnson, Colin Milne, Luke Neugent, Geremi Onentia, Milan Loyle, Caroline Bailey, Joshua Suazo, David Gott, Carmen Ruiz, Gabrielle Day, Lilliana Bohlken, Ling Le, Abdulrahman Shargawi and Jay Harpstrite. Ms. Olsen, the Extended Learning Program Teacher, sponsors all three teams.
