Andover Public Schools offering expanded summer learning opportunities this year

Posted Date: 04/16/2021

Andover Public Schools will offer several learning opportunities this summer, to allow some students the opportunity to catch up after an unusual and sometimes difficult school year.

  • Credit recovery for high school students who have failed courses. This will be offered in June.
  • Better Together Summer Academy for elementary students and Reach for the Stars Summer Academy for middle school students, both in June. These programs will focus on math and reading instruction and focus on students who have been identified as struggling in those areas. The academies will have student-to-teacher ratios of approximately 11:1, and breakfast, lunch and transportation will be provided at no cost to families.
  • Jump Start in late July for students at Cottonwood and Prairie Creek elementaries (our Title I schools) who attended the Better Together Summer Academy. This will help students who need extra math and reading assistance an opportunity to get a great start to the school year.

Students who have been selected to attend these programs will be notified by email. Much of the cost of these programs will be funded through federal Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) funds.
