Congratulations to Garrett Sims and Trent Madden from Andover High School for being selected as 2017 Wallace Scholarship Winners! Only eleven students are selected and each will receive $28,000 over their four years attending Wichita State University.

Garrett has been involved in his high school as a member of the concert choir and the junior varsity football team. He was named outstanding math student in Functions, Statistics and Trigonometry. He spends much of his time tutoring high school students in Andover and the surrounding area in mathematics and science. In his free time, Garrett enjoys riding off-road vehicles with his family and playing with his niece Olivia.

Madden is the valedictorian of his high school and is both a National Merit Commended Scholar and an AP Scholar. He is a member of the varsity boys swim team and participates in the Andover All Stars Swim Team. He serves as a ‘Big Brother’ for Big Brothers Big Sisters, and spends time tutoring students both in his high school’s CATIA class and students in the community. Madden was also recently named a Wichita State Koch Scholar.

The Wallace Scholarship was created from the Dwane and Velma Wallace Endowment, which was established in 1976. The endowment supports scholarships for engineering students and provides funds for the WSU College of Enginneering.
