Winners at First State Meet for Boys Swimming

The Andover High School and Andover Central High School boys swimming teams traveled to Topeka for the state swim meet on Friday, Feb. 17 and Saturday, Feb. 18. This is the first year the Andover school district has offered boys swimming.

Spencer Krueger, a senior from Andover Central High School, won first place in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:41.97 and in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 46.96. He was also a member of the winning 400-yard freestyle relay team. Charles Hsu, Nicolas Krueger and Raddek Thomas were the other three swimmers and they finished with a time of 3:17.74.

Other top 10 finishes:

  • Andover Central took ninth in the 200 Yard Medley Relay with a time of 1:42.20.
  • Raddek Thomas, a freshman from Andover Central, took fifth in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:47.74.
  • Nicolas Krueger, a sophomore from Andover Central, took seventh in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:48.87.
  • Carson Denault, a freshman from Andover Central, took tenth in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:51.70. He also placed sixth in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:58.94.
  • Charles Hsu, a freshman from Andover Central, took tenth in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:03.03.
