The Andover Central High School Lady Jags & Gent dance team and the Andover High School Trojanettes competed in the 2017 Kansas Spectacular competition in Olathe. Congratulations to both teams for their impressive performances!
The Lady Jags & Gent team was selected as Kansas’ “Best of the Best” dance team for the third year in a row. They were one of three teams to receive a platinum award for their choreography, precision, technique and showmanship. For the second year in a row, they won the Texas Motor Sports “WOW Factor Award” for their hip hop routine and had one of four dances throughout the day asked to perform again in the final show. They also received the Judge’s Award for their jazz, contemporary and hip hop routines. Gracie Chambers, Gabrielle Zapata, Kylie Roman and Megan Reinhart received a Judge’s Award for their Officer Routine. Aidan DeWitt and Gabrielle Zapata earned a spot in both the Kansas Duets Winner’s Cirlce as well as the Kansas Solo Winner’s Circle. Overall, the team received a score of 90 or above on all team dances and also received an invitation to perform in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade, The Orange Bowl and at a Dallas Mavericks basketball halftime.
The Trojanettes earned the Gussie Nell Davis Award of Excellence for their performances, as well as Best Overall Silver Award for presentation and choreography. They earned the D1 Superior Rating Sweepstakes Award and the D1 Superior Rating for their officer jazz routine. The team received a Judge’s Award for the team jazz, the officer jazz and the team hip hop dances. Emily Stybr and Brooke McDonough earned spots in the Kansas Solo Winner’s Circle. The Trojanettes were also named in the 2017 Winner’s Circle for the “Best of the Best” award.
