Dr. Russell Miller has accepted an offer to be the Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources at Andover Public Schools. Dr. Miller will replace Mr. Brett White, who will become the new Superintendent on July 1, 2017 when current Superintendent Mr. Greg Rasmussen retires.

Dr. Miller has been the Assistant Superintendent for Human and Fiscal Services for the past six years at Newton USD 373. With nearly 30 years of experience as a school and district-level administrator, Dr. Miller has also served in the Wichita Public School district as a vocal music teacher, building principal and the Director of Grants and Development.

“As a career educator in south central Kansas, I have long admired the strong educational history of Andover Public Schools. To be part of this growing, innovative and student-centered district is truly an honor and a privilege,” Dr. Miller said. “I am beyond excited to join this outstanding group of educators!”

Dr. Miller is married and a father of two. A Wichita native, Dr. Miller holds a bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Friends University and a Masters of Education and Administration and Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership from Wichita State University. With strengths in modernizing district systems and overseeing human resources and business functions, Dr. Miller is a skilled facilitator, problem-solver and advocate for students and staff. He also has experience in working with community members and business leaders.

“We are very pleased to have Dr. Miller join our team,” Assistant Superintendent Brett White said. “He has the experience, skills and unique ability to build high-quality relationships with our staff, students, parents and community. Dr. Miller will be an outstanding leader for our human resources department and an integral part of our administrative team.”
