We’re less than a year away for six major bond-funded construction projects to be complete for Andover Public Schools!

Here’s an update on these projects. Additions and renovations at elementary schools and Andover Central High School already are complete. The only remaining projects after these are the district swimming facility, District Office and work on the east side of the current District Stadium.

Andover Middle School: Masonry work has begun on the gym and locker room portion of AMS. Pre-cast concrete panels that will make up the structure of the gym and wrestling room will deliver the week of Nov. 4, so the gym will be visible from Andover Road starting that week. Work on the eighth-grade science addition will begin the week of Oct. 28. Additions and renovations will be complete for the start of the 2020-21 school year.

Andover Central Middle School: Work is underway at ACMS. Utilities have been relocated which allowed earthwork to start on the new gym addition. The concrete foundation is starting to be poured this week. Everything is progressing according to schedule and we should see the project start going vertical in three or four weeks. Additions and renovations will be complete for the start of the 2020-21 school year.

Andover High School: AHS is progressing very nicely. Masonry work will be complete in the next week or two. Windows are halfway complete. Roofing is 85 percent complete. The goal is to have the HVAC turned on to the new building by Thanksgiving break so that work on the interior finishes can progress. The new building will be complete for the start of the 2020-21 school year, with the attached district swimming facility completed by the spring of 2021.

Andover Central Stadium: The last ACMS football game in the existing stadium was last week, with demolition beginning the next morning to make way for the new stadium. A lot of work has already taken place. Nearly 250,000 cubic yards of dirt have been moved for the stadium, the district tennis complex and Yorktown Place. Masonry has begun on one of the locker room buildings, and the concessions stand and utilities have been going in all over the site. The stadium will be complete in time for football in the fall of 2020.

New Meadowlark Elementary School

Meadowlark Elementary: The new elementary school is coming along well. With nearly 90 workers on site things are going up quickly. Concrete foundation is complete and masonry is nearing 50 percent completion. Meadowlark is on track for school to start for the 2020-21 school year.

Andover Center for Advanced Professional Studies

Andover Center for Advanced Professional Studies: The CAPS building is underway. Concrete foundations are complete and the slab is 75 percent complete. Concrete pre-cast has been set for the storm shelter, and steel is set to arrive in the next few weeks so the building’s structure will start to take shape. CAPS is scheduled to be complete for the start of the 2020-21 school year.
