|All-Day & Half-Day Kindergarten Update|
Posted Date: 07/25/2017
Over the last few weeks, we have worked with our parents to gain feedback and preferences on Kindergarten placement. Earlier this summer, the state legislature passed a new school funding formula where All-Day Kindergarten is now paid for by the state. Andover USD 385 offered a tuition-based program for students and parents wanting to be in All-Day Kindergarten, which is now paid for by state funding. Through our feedback, we found that over 75 percent of those in Half-Day Kindergarten wanted to transition to All-Day Kindergarten. This means that an additional section of All-Day Kindergarten is going to be offered at Cottonwood, Meadowlark, Robert Martin and Wheatland Elementary schools. Of those wanting their students to remain in Half-Day Kindergarten, 87 percent either chose morning sessions or had no preference of the time. From these results, we are offering one section of morning Half-Day Kindergarten at Sunflower Elementary.
Our student’s education is our top priority. We offer an excellent Kindergarten program to our parents that our community can be proud of. If you are interested in attending Kindergarten at Andover Public Schools and live within our school district boundaries, please contact your elementary school for more details.
